Georgia Ellery from Penzance is a violinist, playing since she was 5 years old. The lord Lieutenant’s Fund for Youth awarded her £500 towards a new bow.
“My new bow is wonderful, and I have also been fortunate enough to purchase a new violin, which is very exciting as it is the first I have ever owned. Made in 1887 by Le Blanc, it has been renovated by local violin maker Mark Jennings with an excellent set up; producing the sound I want, and inspiring me to play and create the music I love. My gypsy jazz band, Contours, entered the Music For Youth festival and performed at the National event in Birmingham. After this fantastic event, we were invited to perform at the last night of the MFY schools proms last November at the Royal Albert Hall – an unbelievable experience. I also played as part of the Cornwall Youth Symphony Orchestra on the 1st night of the series.”
