The Duchess of Cornwall met recipients, donors and friends of the Lord Lieutenant’s Fund for Youth at a reception at the Duchy Nursery near Lostwithiel to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the fund.
Launched by the then Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall Lady Mary Holborow and Vice Lord Lieutenant Michael Galsworthy in 2005, the fund provides support to particularly gifted under-23s in Cornwall so that they’re better equipped to reach their potential.
Now under the stewardship of Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall Colonel Edward Bolitho OBE, the Cornwall Community Foundation administered Lord Lieutenant’s Fund continues to offer support to Cornwall’s gifted youngsters and is always on the lookout for worthy causes to champion.
The first awards were made in spring 2006 and in the years since the Lord Lieutenant’s Fund for Youth has supported a great number of young people with a diverse range of talents to go on and accomplish great things.
Amongst those who attended the reception were swimmer Matthew Clowes who won two gold and a bronze medal at the South West Para Championships, pole vaulter Molly Cowdry, footballer Matthew Robinson and double bass player Edward Francis-Smith.
