Matthew Clowes had a very successful year in 2015 winning two golds and a bronze medal in Bristol at the South West Para Championships in October, as well as having set his new personal best times. Matt from Looe received £729 from The Lord Lieutenant Fund for Youth towards the costs of travelling to national and international para swimming competitions.

Matt’s aims are to qualify for the GB team and reach the paralympic games in swimming. To enable him to do so he needs to enter as many competitions as possible on national and international level.

The funding from The Lord Lieutenant Fund for Youth has allowed Matt to attend competitions in Manchester, Glasgow, Bristol and Gloucester, and has given him valuable experience and increased confidence.

“The events went really well, I managed to do my personal best times and meet up with my team members. I also had very good feedback about my swimming and what future competitions I can now enter. I really enjoyed the experience of being able to go. Thank you so much” said Matt.
